Several members of the CARE Task Force have received extensive training on techniques for preventing child sexual abuse. These individuals offer trainings for concerned adults, parents and professionals in North Quabbin. Please visit the calendar section for dates and locations.


Trainings for Professionals
A training of trainers for the CARE Task Force was held in March 2004. This training was conducted by Gail Ryan, Director of the Perpetration Prevention Program at the Kempe Children’s Center, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious clinical research center on child abuse prevention. The comprehensive 21-hour training covered the following topics:

  • The Problem of Juvenile Sexual Offending: Goal Oriented Prevention & Intervention
  • Understanding & Responding to the Sexual Behavior of Children
  • Informed Supervision of Juveniles Who Have Sexually Offended
  • Therapeutic Caregiver’s Role in Treatment of Juveniles Who Have Abusive Behaviors

Information Sessions for Concerned Adults & Parents

A training of trainers for the CARE Task Force was held in April 2004. This comprehensive 15-hour training was conducted by three trainers from the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program at Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAV). PCAV is a nationally recognized state leader on child abuse prevention. After attending this training, these local trainers will offer local informational events for concerned adults and parents that will:

  • Increase awareness of the nature and scope of child sexual abuse
  • Increase knowledge of child sexual development
  • Recognize, evaluate and respond to children’s behavior
  • Increase skills for preventing child sexual abuse from occurring
